About This Spot

Stepping into Skipper Jack's Maritime Restaurant feels like settling into a friendly neighborhood harbor where the pace slows down just enough to savor the simple, satisfying rhythms of a well-loved local spot. The atmosphere is casual and inviting, a place where the hum of easy conversation blends naturally with the occasional call of the sea breeze—if only in spirit—coming through the open windows.

The décor might not aim for flash, but it carries a quietly authentic warmth that matches the generous spirit of the hospitality within. Here, folks come together over hearty plates that speak plainly but lovingly of the sea’s bounty. Whether it’s the familiar comfort of classic fish and chips served with a homemade tartar sauce that balances creaminess with a gentle tang, or the playful twist of bacon-wrapped scallops and warm lobster rolls brimming with butter, each bite feels like a small celebration of local flavors and maritime tradition.

This is a place where the menu invites sharing, with dishes that impress less by complexity and more by freshness and care. The seafood chowder’s richness, the lively textures of crispy onion rings, and the satisfying heft of a full lobster meal all suggest a meal meant to be savored without rush. There’s joy in the everyday quality here, reinforced by attentive, friendly service that makes visitors feel like part of the neighborhood, whether for the first time or the hundredth.

Skipper Jack's isn’t polished or pretentious—it’s a genuine corner of Moncton’s hospitality where time feels a bit fuller, and meals stretch comfortably into moments of connection. A visit here fits best when you’re open to discovering a local gem that’s as much about the human moments as the seafood on your plate.

Came in with a friend that is local to Monkton. She showed us this place. We absolutely loved it. Got a pound and a quarter Lobster Hot lobster rolls puts in bacon, cheese, flavor Fish and Chips. All the food was great. Our waitress was also a local and she was nice as well. The girl that brought our food out was a nice girl. And she had crazy, cool tattoos, all in all 5 stars for this place. We had a great dinner and we walked in at 7 PM. I think they close at 8. We were the last ones to close the place down. Thanks for keeping it open for us. Hope you enjoyed your tip. Thanks again.

Quality fish amd seafood. The location is basic, so is the food, but in a good way. The fish and chips (Old English Style pictured) were light and great flavour. I don't enjoy much deep fried food, this wasn't super heavy. The homemade tartar sauce was wonderful. Coleslaw can overlooked, but theirs was very good and id recommend trying it. Our table also has not pictured bacon wrapped scallop appetizer and the deep fried mars bar off the dessert menu. The marmalade and coconut shrimp were a great combo. Those that got the deep fried scallops said they were tender and very good. We would come again. Our server was very pleasant. Younger woman, very pleasant and kind. The location is very clean and tidy and id take that over a busy looking place that isn't clean looking, but there isnt a ton of atmosphere. The 80s - 90s Playlist was enjoyable though.

I was in New Brunswick for work and the guy I was doing works for said this place had the best seafood anywhere around. So that's where I went. It did not disappoint! It's a nice locally owned place. Clean and friendly with a casual atmosphere. The prices were reasonable and the portions large. Service was on point and they were willing to talk to me which is a big plus when you're on the road alone as much as I am. They were very welcoming. I have had a lot of really stellar seafood when work takes me close enough to the shore to get it. This place ranks at or near the top of that list. The chowder was the best I ever remember eating. Perfectly creamy and the seafood was impeccable. With the exception of the shrimp, everything else was locally sourced and as fresh as any I have ever had. The clams were also remarkable. The menu says they are "award winning". I can see why! Perfect breading. Whole clams! To die for! And if you like PEI mussels? Imagine what they would be like when they came fresh out of the water the same day you ate them and from only a handful of miles from where you're sitting to eat them! By far the mildest, freshest and most tender mussels I ever ate. Of you are ever within a 2 hour drive of this place .... GOOOOOO! Its that good.

Food was good and fresh, with generous portions priced fairly for the quality. The seafood dishes were tasty and well-prepared. Parking was easy — plenty of free spots right outside. Nice, casual atmosphere and friendly service. Great place for a relaxed seafood meal in Moncton!

We were staying a short cab ride away and it was definitely worth the ride. We went on a Friday night around 6:00 pm and it was crazy busy but worth the wait. We had the Ultimate Feed for a Hungry Sailor and Calamari. Everything was very good and it was a lot of food. The service was excellent and the prices reasonable.

Food was amazing! Prepare to wait about 30 minutes for a table, we went early 5:00pm on a Monday and still had to wait about 35 minutes for our table of 4, but when the food came it was well worth it. We shared a platter with an extra piece of fish and our friends had the lobster rolls and we had to try the seafood chowder. Everyone agreed it was the best seafood we have had in New Brunswick to date.

Interesting place. Decor, utensils, napkins and plates presentation are old style, feel like a place in the 80. The food it’s good. The lobster roll, maybe a bit too buttery but absolutely spectacular. The seafood chowder has a plenty of fish and no potatoes and deserves a try. The server Michelle was attentive and caring. Overall good experience

Skipper Jack’s in Moncton is a good locally owned family business with good food, friendly service, and a welcoming atmosphere. It gets busy, so be prepared, but it’s worth the wait. Supporting local never tasted so good. Fair prices, and a solid menu make this spot a must-visit.
